If you have been waiting to use the GSB, the wait is over! No more twelve (12) block pinwheels to construct. No more field curing nightmares. The GSB is simple, reliable, consistent and repeatable.
The Deslauriers Grout Sample Box (GSB) is now permitted (with approval of the specifier) as an alternate forming method in ASTM C1019-09, Section 6.2, and is discussed in Note 7.
Guidance for performing comparative tests and establishing a conversion factor is contained in Section 11.3, and is discussed in Note 11.
Reporting requirements for alternate forming methods are detailed in Sections 12.3 through 12.3.4.
C1019-09 is not yet published in the ASTM book, but is available now as a current test method at www.astm.org.

Burlap for keeping samples moist.
Sheet plastic for keeping burlap moist.
Large flat area for CMU layout.
Significant time to obtain CMU, locate molding area and arrange CMU pattern.
